4/2/2011 Rough River Results and Pictures

Spring has sprung.  Then it went back into hibernation for a bit.  Kentuckiana was blessed with some great temperatures in the 70s and gorgeous days to boot a few weeks back and then Mother Nature reminded us of what she can do.  It got cold.  Heck, it even snowed!  Most April tournaments can find LMBC club members making the haul down to Barren River Lake.  Not this year, members voted to take a different route and detour to Rough River Lake.  Would the name of the lake say it all?  Would there be a skunking like last March at Cumberland?

4/2/2011 Rough River Results

Angler                        Place     Total  Fish     LM      SPT   SM       Big Fish       Weight            Points
1. Todd Scott              1                  5                 4            1                                             9.25 lbs          50
2. Derek Crawford      2                5                5                                                           9.13 lbs           49
3. Larry Whiteman      3              5                  1                                4.28 lbs          9.00 lbs           48
1st Big Bass: Larry Whiteman     4.28 lbs
2nd Big Bass: Mike Sherley           3.78 lbs
Top Boat: Melson/Crawford        14.73 lbs

Only 1/4 of pound separated our 1st from 3rd place competitors.  I have a hunch all three guys figured they had a change to get a first place finish.  Definitely better results than last weeks, but it looks like the spawn hasn’t hit Rough River yet.

Todd Scott with his 5 fish limit of largemouth and spots for 1st place!  Todd caught his fish deep cranking points and mouths of bays and cuts.

Indiana’s finest, Derek Crawford, took hold of the co-angler division again with a limit to put him in second place.  Crawford caught these bass on a shakeyhead in the back of Gary Melsons boat.  Didn’t Dave Nash win out of Melsons boat last tournament?  Sign me up for that seat!

Larry Whiteman brought a four fish bounty and big bass of the tournament (4.38 lbs) to the scales for a 3rd place finish.  Word after the tournament is Larry caught these fish on a spoon, what the fork is next!

Mike Sherley with 2nd big bass of the day (3.78 lbs) and a 4th place finish!

Dale Siebert with two of his largemouth and a 5th place finish.

Heck, even Bill Feurt caught a limit!
